McCann Worldgroup Japan Names CCO

McCann Worldgroup hired Alex Lopez as chief creative officer of McCann Worldgroup Japan.

In the new role, Lopez will work closely with senior management and each agency’s executive creative director to strengthen the agency’s creative culture, increase output and foster a more collaborative environment, according to a press release.

“Japan is a major focus for us. Alex has the depth, knowledge and creative chops that we need to strengthen our creative leadership in Japan,” McCann Worldgroup global creative chairman Rob Reilly said in a statement. “I have tremendous confidence in him and all of the ECDs that we will continue to push forward with urgency.”

Lopez arrives in the role with over two decades of industry experience spanning a handful of countries. After beginning his career by spending around 13 years at Leo Burnett, spanning offices in Japan, Germany, France and Venezuela, he spent five years with Leo Burnett, Dentsu and Publicis joint venture Beacon Communications in Japan, serving as CCO and managing director. After that he served as a founding partner, executive creative director for Suitmen Entertainment, followed by a little over a year and a half as executive creative director for Troika in Los Angeles. Most recently, he co-founded and served as CCO for branded content-focused Branded Programming Studios.
