Independent agency Grupo Gallegos appointed industry veteran Luis Camaño as director of brand activation, responsible for leading the newly-formed agency group while working alongside peers in the creative, strategic and account leadership disciplines.

Camaño arrived at the agency from Alcone Marketing as a freelance executive creative director in September. He served as chief creative officer with Alcone for nearly eleven years, working with brands such as Pepsi, Arby’s, Coca-Cola, California Lottery, Jose Cuervo, Volkswagen, Microsoft, LG Mobile, Logitech, Nestlé and Jagermeister. Prior to receiving the promotion to CCO he spent over five and a half years as a senior vice president, group creative director for the agency. Before joining Alcone, Camaño served as a creative director with amp for nearly four years.

Camaño’s arrival follows the departure of chief creative officer Marty Orzio last summer.

“Luis has tremendous experience leading creative teams using behavioral data from mobile, social and proximity marketing to create unique and engaging consumer experiences that drive sales,” said Grupo Gallegos president and CEO John Gallegos. “Combined with his exceptional track record as a creative lead in the retail advertising world, this will be of tremendous value to our clients.”

“I am thrilled for the opportunity to join Grupo Gallegos and work with our exceptional clientele,” added Camaño. “So much of a modern brand’s success is tied to its ability to engage and delight consumers with creative experiences in the moment — I look forward to the challenge of growing the Brand Activation Group into a market leader.”
