Dentsu Aegis Network digital agency Isobar confirmed it has gone through a round of layoffs.

“Isobar continues to be a unique and vibrant business with huge opportunity to grow. One year ago we began a transformation journey to be more aligned with the global positioning of Isobar, ensuring that we have the right roles, areas of focus and staff size to best serve our client’s needs. We adjusted our number of employees to ensure we are best aligned to support those business needs and position the brand for growth,” an agency representative said in a statement. “These changes will optimize our performance for our current and future clients and create stronger career opportunities for our talent. We will continue to hire as the business needs demand us too.”

Sources told AgencySpy the layoffs impacted around 28 employees across Isobar’s New York, Boston and Chicago offices, primarily hitting the agency’s creative and technology departments. An Isobar spokesperson said the layoffs impacted 3-4% of staff. The size of Isobar’s U.S. staff is not immediately clear, but the agency employs an estimated 6,500 globally.

Isobar named Ricardo Salema as the agency’s first U.S. CCO back in February and welcomed Digitas veteran Ronald Ng as global CCO last November.
