Indie Icon Ian Mackaye Bonds with W+K

Barely five years removed from his infamous spat with Nike for the brand’s appropriation of Minor Threat’s classic album cover, the band’s front man and Dischord Records owner Ian Mackaye seems to have had somewhat of a change of heart. Stereogum takes a look at a new video interview with Mackaye, which is part of an ongoing project developed by Nike agency Wieden + Kennedy’s WKE division called D.I.Y. America. Here, the notoriously indie punk-rocker discusses skater culture as part of the “Skate and Create” series, which seems to have riled some folks enough to claim that he’s pimping for Wieden.
