F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi launched a new spot for Mizuno, entitled “Skate,” featuring a man and his bulldog running companion.
The 30-second spot is the third installment in the agency’s “It’s Runderful” campign for the brand,launched back in March. “Skate” opens on the man running in the park, with his pet bulldog lagging behind and struggling to keep up. He continues on his way and turns around to discover his running companion missing. Then the dog reappears, riding a skateboard to allow him to keep up. It’s a simple approach, but a cute and memorable one, with the implication that the increased speed afforded to runners by the Mizuno Wave Creation 17s may have unforeseen consequences. “Skate” also fits in well with the campaign’s emphasis on running for fun, with the canine companionship offering a fun spin on the concept. Now if only they’d do something about that tagline…
