Hoon Oh Leaves mcgarrybowen to Join A&G as Creative Director

By Erik Oster

Allen & Gerritsen hired Hoon Oh as a vice president, creative director in its Philadelphia office.

Hoon joins A&G from mcgarrybowen New York, where he has served as associate director of experience design for mcgarrybowen Innovation Group since February, following over a year as senior experience designer for the innovation group. Before joining mcgarrybowen, he spent a year as senior experience designer with SapientNitro in Boston. That followed nearly two years as an experience designer with Mullen. While with Los Angeles’s Syyn Labs, he was part of the team that designed “Swing Pong,” which received press from Popular Science and Gizmodo.

“Hoon is that new and rare breed of creative who spans design in all its forms — visual, experience and innovation. His skillset is incredibly unique and exactly what we need to create the awe-inspiring work that will move the needle for our clients,” A&G CCO Jennifer Putnam, who joined the agency from SapientNitro in August of 2015, said in a statement. “In short, Hoon is a major catch and I’m so happy to be on the same team once again.”

“My goal is to bring together the right context and timing, and use the right technology, so we can enhance consumer experiences that meet their behavior,” Oh added. “I’m passionate about building stuff that challenges perceptions and provides a different way of looking at things, but doing so in a simple, clear way that is easily understood. At A&G, what I want is to collaborate to create work that developers and designers alike, as well as the agency as a whole, can be proud of.”
