Columbus Foods Picks Eleven As Its New AOR

By Patrick Coffee

Just over a week after scoring the Citrix spinoff GoTo, San Francisco indie agency Eleven has added Columbus Foods to its client roster.

Columbus, also based in the Bay, is “the country’s most respected producer of salami and craft meats”–and Eleven will produce its first-ever national ad campaign. Eleven will handle creative, media and digital.

“Founded in 1917, Columbus Foods is the fastest growing brand in the fastest growing segment of the deli meat category: Italian deli.”

(As if there were any other kind.)

The client’s SVP of marketing/innovation Michael Fox says that his company was looking to “tell the history of our brand while embracing a modern point of view that captures the craft nature of our nearly 100 year old business” and that “Eleven’s successful track record of helping brands like ours solve big strategic questions” sealed the deal.

The RFP went out in August, with Eleven competing against three other area shops in the final round of the review.

Columbus is not disclosing its billings, but Kantar media tells us that the company spent only $6,000 on all paid media in 2014.

That number will obviously be quite a bit higher this year, though the size and reach of the campaign (which should launch later this quarter) remains to be seen.
