Eric Cosper, who joined the New York offices of FCB last April to serve as FCB Garfinkel’s chief creative officer, left the agency earlier this month to move to the West Coast and work as a freelancer.
11 months ago Cosper replaced the departed CCO Javier Campopiano, who now leads Conill/Saatchi & Saatchi Latin America. Prior to his IPG move, Cosper spent more than a year with New York’s Untitled Worldwide, where he helped lead the Game of War account during its Kate Upton or pre-Mariah Carey period.
His resume is extensive: he served as an art/creative director at Fallon, Publicis, Wieden+Kennedy, Mother New York and BBDO before heading to Untitled in early 2014.
Cosper’s hire last year came around the same time that FCB West named Karin Onsager-Birch as chief creative officer leading its Los Angeles and San Francisco offices; she retains that position. Midway through his tenure, he also went on a mini-hiring spree of sorts as FCB Garfinkel added 13 names to its creative and account teams, most prominently VP/CD Patrick Carella (formerly with DDB New York).
The reasons for the chief creative’s departure are unclear, as are his future plans. But he appears to have relocated to the Portland area, where he is currently working as a freelance art director.
An FCB spokesperson declined to comment on the news.
