BusinessWeek: DDB has > 50% Chance of Winning VW

That’s the gospel according to BusinessWeek’s David Kiley, who reported yesterday that various sources have told him that DDB is the frontrunner to grab the baton from Crispin and land the $200-250 million VW account. “DDB will have to really screw up to blow this,” an insider tells Kiley.

According to the author, the agency has a 50% if not 75% chance of running away with the account while Goodby, McKinney and Deutsch are listed as leading contenders who can pick up the ball should DDB drop it. But while DDB handles VW in several outside markets, does that still make them the leading agency for this one?
