Bud Houses 32 Soccer ‘Fanatics’ During World Cup. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

By Kiran Aditham

DDB Chicago and Tribal DDB Amsterdam are parlaying Budweiser’s sponsorship of the FIFA World Cup by opening the doors to the “Bud House,” where 32 soccer fans will eat, sleep and breathe the World Cup and watch all the games together for the entirety of the tournament.

Each “fanatic” will represent a participating country through competitions and other sorts of shenanigans. As teams get eliminated, so do the corresponding reps. So what’s the payoff for these contestants perhaps losing their sanity and/or dealing with claustrophobia? The winner will be awarded in-person the Budweiser Man of the Match Trophy on the pitch after the final championship game. For the first time, FIFA and Budweiser are also enabling the public around the world to choose the winner of the award by voting online or via text message.

All the action goes down at the “Bud United” YouTube page, which also includes video from the house and other forms of content as well as links to the contestants’ Facebook and Twitter pages.
