The last of Atmosphere’s agents have been laid off, we’ve learned. In reality this means four more people have lost their jobs following BBDO New York Proximity absorbing the company. When Proximity absorbed Atmosphere BBDO, a number of Atmo employees were transferred to BBDO New York’s digital team. Four were laid off last week and will be replaced.
An agency representative confirms the news, noting that the four will be replaced “by people with more appropriate skill sets given our current client needs.”
A source close to the matter tells us BBDO basically absorbed Atmosphere’s revenue stream “and are now killing off the creative expense.” Well, so to speak. The studio will now primarily adapt TV ideas to digital, meaning all creative ‘ideation’ will originate from BBDO proper.
