Arby’s Apparently Takes Complaints About its Ads Seriously

By Kiran Aditham

Well well, here we have yet another interesting thread on Reddit that popped up over the weekend. Thankfully, there are no dating tales of terror this time but just a simple apology from a major fast-food chain that perhaps gives hope that some brands actually do give a damn about their customers’ feelings.

It appears that one person who doesn’t seem to really enjoy BBDO New York’s recent ad campaign for Arby’s actually emailed (or wrote a letter to) the company to voice how much the ads actually annoyed them. We’re still trying to deduce why this person (we believe username “Fhajad”) actually complained about the rather goofy, harmless campaign (are happy tortoises really that annoying?), but at least Arby’s responded in kind. Sure, it reads like somewhat of a generic corporate response, but like one person says in the Reddit thread, “I gotta admit that’s pretty cool of them to even respond back…” Read below:

“Dear Arby’s Friend,
We’re sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with our current advertising.

Many times we choose to use humor and satire in our commercials in an effort to communicate information about the Arby’s menu in an engaging and entertaining manner.

Your opinion is very important to us, and we thank you for taking the time to provide feedback. The last thing we want to do is offend anyone. We have shared your comments with our marketing and advertising teams so they can be considered in the development of future advertising.

Very truly yours,
Arby’s Customer Relations”
