Andre Gray has joined Grey New York as an executive creative director, reporting to chief creative officer Justine Armour.

Gray was most recently executive creative director at Eleven in his native San Francisco, which he joined in August of last year. Before that, he spent time in Paris and Amsterdam, where he worked at TBWA\Neboko as global creative director. During his career, he has led global campaigns for Adidas, Gatorade and Nissan, among others.

“We are so lucky to have Andre’s extraordinary talent at Grey,” Armour said in a statement. “In addition to all his professional achievements, Andre is deeply committed to advocating for underrepresented voices. He is already shaping our work and our culture to drive equality and make us a more inclusive company.”

Added Gray: “There is a palpable energy and momentum building at Grey. My initial conversations with John Patroulis and Justine Armour were very honest and centered around the creative possibilities where everyone can bring their entire selves to work, no matter their background or what they look like. They have welcomed me wholly and I am excited to build that type of environment with them.”

In addition to his day job, Gray is also the author of Digital Anthropomorphism: Humanizing the Brand, a book that “lays a foundation for understanding the way brands leverage our natural psychological tendency to understand things in human terms, the way we understand ourselves, to create loyal, lifelong relationships with us,” according to Gray’s website.
