100% Loaded: Big Spaceship’s Preloaders at Your Disposal

By Matt Van Hoven

Mike Lebowitz of Big Spaceship tells us that his agency’s theme this year is, “be prolific”, and idea that at first seems out there, but when you see the first execution makes more sense. Cue Pretty Loaded, a Web site built “in just a few days” to highlight the industry’s vast array of Web site preloaders. They’re the little thingy-bobs that show up when you get to a site that requires loading. Click here to see what we mean.

If you’re too busy to click, allow us to explain how this simple site works. A preloader from one of Big Spaceship’s (or Agencynet/Firstborn) many projects loads, quickly, followed by another, then another, and so on. It loads with just enough time for you to appreciate the loader, and read about when it was made, for which client et cetera.

“It’s more of a museum,” said Lebowitz.

OK, so the site is kinda pointless, except that it shows off some of the industry’s less noteworthy work. So far, there’s content from not only Big Spaceship but also Firstborn and Agencynet. What does your shop have lying around that the general public might enjoy? There’s no telling whether this site will grow to have intrinsic value for its visitors, but it’s certainly a good way to waste a few minutes.
