Fox-owned station WTTG marked its 70th anniversary as a commercial TV station in Washington, D.C. today.
WTTG was the first commercial station in D.C. when it launched as part of the Dumont Television Network.
For all you lovers of station trivia, its call letters came from the first initials of its then chief engineer Thomas T. Goldsmith.
The Fox station is looking for memories to share from its viewers. It wants people to use the hashtag #5at70 to tell their stories.
I’ll post basically anything that uses the phrase “good times” which I use for all awkward situations.
Congratulations to WTTG on its 70th Anniversary today! Here I am interviewing Nikita Khrushchev back in 1961. Good times! 😜🎂📺 #5at70 pic.twitter.com/EO0NDxjfPW
