Anchors and reporters can often get away with wearing jeans during a newscast, but gym shorts?
That’s what WREG reporter George Brown wore on-air recently after he forgot to bring his work clothes with him to the gym before heading into the station for the noon newscast. Realizing that he didn’t have a suit with him, just thirty minutes before he had to be at work, Brown scrambled to assemble an outfit.
He found a white dress shirt in the back of his SUV, among a bunch of clothes that he was meaning to drop off at a donation center, and he was able to borrow a tie from meteorologist Austen Onek.
Completing the makeshift ensemble with a blazer he had at the station, Brown was able to appear on WREG’s noon newscast.
“The camera shot was a little looser than I’d like but my shorts are dark enough they looked like pants and no one was the wiser,” Brown wrote in a blog post about the incident.
