WRC Launches Series on Mental Health

By Merrill Knox

wrc setWRC, the NBC owned station in Washington, D.C., is launching “Changing Minds,” a year-long series on mental health. The series will “consist of powerful and compelling elements including news stories, public service announcements, town halls, specials and partnerships,” according to the station.

“We have been seeing too many tragedies that might have been prevented if only someone got the right kind of help,” WRC vice president of news Mike Goldrick said in a statement. “By shining a light on a topic that unfortunately carries stigmas and doesn’t get all the attention it deserves, we hope to make a difference and save lives.”

The campaign launches tomorrow, the first day of National Mental Health month, with reports throughout the day on WRC newscasts and online. WRC will also have a daylong phone bank staffed with professionals from CrisisLink.
