Chicago ABC-owned station WLS is responding to a tweet sent by sports anchor Mark Giangreco critical of Americans and the President.

“Sports Anchor Mark Giangreco’s Twitter comments are not in line with ABC 7 Chicago’s non-partisan editorial standards,” WLS told TVSpy in a statement attributed to ABC 7 Chicago Station Management. “We’ve reviewed the matter and are taking the appropriate action.”

Chicago media writer Robert Feder reported Giangreco has been suspended.

Yesterday, we reported Giangreco tweeted “So obvious, so disturbing. America exposed as a country full of simpletons who allowed this cartoon lunatic to be ‘elected.'” in response to a tweet by Toronto Star sports columnist Bruce Arthur who wrote, “Donald Trump: a hateful ignorant corrupt simpleton supported by 87% of Republicans.”

Giangrego has been sports director at ABC-owned WLS since 1994, after spending the previous 12 years at NBC-owned WMAQ.
