WKMG Names Bridgett Williams Morning Anchor

By Merrill Knox

It’s official: Bridgett Williams has been named the permanent morning anchor at WKMG, the CBS-affiliate in Orlando.

Williams stepped into the role on an interim basis over the summer, replacing Laura Diaz, who left the television business altogether in June. Williams was previously a weekday reporter and weekend anchor at WKMG.

In a statement announcing the move, WKMG general manager Skip Valet praised Williams’ addition to the morning team. “She has done a terrific job sitting in as co-anchor on the Local 6 Morning News and has become an important morning news team member,” he said. “So we asked her to make the job permanent.”
