WJBK Individuals Dominate Social Media Ratings Over Past 30 Days

Individuals at WJBK, the FOX-owned station in Detroit, are dominating social media in the market.

According to Share Rocket data from May 14-June 14, anchors and reporters at the station held seven of the top 10 individual spots across all platforms. WXYZ had two and WDIV had one.

WJBK also held on to the top spot during that time period with a 43.4 Share followed by WDIV, the Graham-owned NBC affiliate with a 28.4 overall Share. WXYZ, the Scripps-owned ABC affiliate, came in third place with a 27.4 Share.

WJBK was No. 1 on Facebook as a group with a 43.5 Share, with 33.5 of that Share coming from the main station Facebook Page. Their main station Page averaged 1,455 Engagements per Post in the month. WJBK anchor and Detroit radio personality Jay Towers was the top individual on the platform with a 4.7 Share and his Page generated more than 110,000 Engagements in the last 30 days. Data shows his Engagement was up +34.6% compared to the 30 days prior.

On Twitter, WJBK was also No. 1 as a group with a 36.1 Share on the platform, but WXYZ Sports Reporter and Anchor Brad Galli was the No. 1 individual in the market with a 19.3 Share on his own. Galli had more than 18,000 Engagements on Twitter during the 30 days. It gave him a ratio of about 1.3 Engagements per follower. According to Share Rocket, it is rare to see an Engagement-to-Audience ratio over 1.0 on Twitter.

On Instagram, WJBK was again No. 1 as a group with a 47.4 Share on the platform. WJBK got most of its lift on Instagram from anchors Maurielle Lue and Amy Andrews who were the top two individuals in the market on the platform. WDIV’s main station account was the No. 1 overall on Instagram in the last 30 days with a 12.6 Share
