Vanessa Echols Promoted to 4PM Anchor at WFTV

By Aneya Fernando

Vanessa-Echols1Vanessa Echols, the longtime morning anchor for Orlando ABC affiliate WFTV, is leaving the a.m. spot after 17 years.

According to Hal Boedeker of the Orlando Sentinel, Echols will now anchor the 4:00 p.m. newscast, where she will be reunited with her former morning co-anchor Greg Warmoth. Investigative reporter and anchor Nancy Alvarez will be replacing Echols, alongside Jamie Holmes.

“Vanessa has been preparing Central Florida viewers for their days for nearly two decades,” said news director Matt Parcell. “It’s time to share her wealth of experience and knowledge in another day part. Nancy is a very strong anchor who will continue to bring viewers the latest news and information as they wake up.”
