Texas Station Airing Spanish Language Translation of Newscast

By Kevin Eck

KRGV in Rio Grande Valley, Texas has begun airing a Spanish-language translation of its newscasts on a secondary audio channel.

“It’s the same newscast our viewers know and trust delivered live, in Spanish, from our Weslaco studios by a team of very talented translators,” said KRGV gm John Kittleman. “Once our viewers learn how to choose the SAP option on their TV, they will have the choice of listening in English or Spanish.”

According to the Brownsville Herald, “Spanish audio can be selected on a TV remote by pressing the SAP, audio or MTS button. On some TVs, viewers may need to use the menu button and choose the Audio Preferences or Channel settings.”
