Spain’s state-owned broadcaster, Television Española, fell down a rabbit hole of wrong on Monday while trying to shed some light on what’s happening in Syria.
The network showed a logo they thought was Al-Qaeda’s, while reporting on the history of Raqqa. Raqqa, which is the stronghold of ISIS in Syria, has been the target of massive bombing raids by Russia and Syria, with France joining in after the Paris attacks on Friday.
Unfortunately for Television Española, the logo it showed was actually the logo of the Rebel Alliance from Star Wars.
A twitter user then pointed out the logo was taken from a Facebook page of record label Alqueda’Inc., which is not the same as the terrorist organization or the Rebel Alliance.
But it gets worse because the logo TVE used for Al Qaeda is a "record label" on Facebook called "Alqaeda'Inc". pic.twitter.com/e51Smwzo17
