shirleenallicot_160x200On Friday, anchor Shirleen Allicot announced her decision to leave Philadelphia’s WPVI after five years at the ABC-owned station.

After announcing her impending departure to her colleagues, Allicot broke the news to her Facebook fans:

I write this with weight in my heart – earlier today, I told my Action News family that I have made the difficult decision to return to my other family, in my hometown of New York City. I will remain with the ABC/Disney family, having accepted a position with 6abc’s sister station, WABC.

Allicot has been named noon weekday anchor at the New York ABC-owned station. Prior to joining WPVI in May 2010, she was an anchor and reporter for News 12 Connecticut.

Allicot starts her new gig on June 1.
