After recently announcing it would double the size of its bureau in Washington, D.C. Nexstar has named Bill Mondora to the new position of Bureau Chief. Mondora will oversee D.C. news for Nexstar’s 100 markets across the country.

Nexstar’s DC bureau is located at 400 North Capitol Street in Washington, DC, which is home to Fox News, and NBC News, among other media companies.

“Bill brings to his new position a deep understanding of local news programming and production, digital and social media integration, content monetization, strategic planning and brand positioning across multiple media platforms,” said Jerry Walsh, director of Local Content Development for Nexstar, to whom Mondora will report. “We are confident in his ability to successfully lead our Washington, DC, news bureau and look forward to his contributions as we continue to advance the programming, products and services we provide to local communities and advertisers.”

Until last summer, Mondora was news director at KTTV/KCOP in Los Angeles. Before that, he spent 24 years at CBS News, mostly at affiliate news service Newspath.

“This is a critical time for our nation and we have an obligation to bring each of the local communities we serve exclusive coverage of local and national news from Capitol Hill,” said Mondora.

Nexstar’s vast reach stretches across the country, representing 57 percent of the nation’s Congressional districts.

“The Nexstar Washington, DC, team will be regular guests in congressional offices and will conduct interviews with members of Congress on local issues impacting their district,” Mondora said.
