News Press & Gazette Company has announced the purchase of Salinas-Monterey, CA, stations KION (CBS) and KMUV (Telemundo) along with San Luis Obispo-Santa Barbara-Santa Maria, CA, FOX affiliate KKFX from Cowles Media.
Cowles and News Press & Gazette have also entered into a shared services agreement for KCOY, the Santa Maria CBS affiliate. Under the terms NPGCo will provide news, back office, engineering and sales support services while Cowles will provide general management, programming and sales management services.
The transactions are expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2013 and are subject to FCC approval.
