Michael Jack has announced his retirement as GM of New York NBC owned station WNBC.
Jack was GM at WRC in Washington, D.C. before coming to WNBC in 2010. He told staffers at a Town Hall meeting he would retire in June 2015.
“Michael has been a dynamic leader, who has run three NBC Owned Television Stations over the course of his career,” said Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations. “He has been a trusted confidante and friend to me, a committed broadcaster and a mentor for so many in our division. He has championed the careers of countless individuals, always reaching back to help others in the industry grow. Michael also has a great family. His wonderful wife, Mary, and treasured daughter, Truce, are his true foundation and they deserve more time with him. We will miss him greatly and wish him all the best for a truly wonderful retirement.”
He started his career at with WABC in New York in October 1977. He was an account executive for ABC Spot Sales in Chicago before working for KGO in San Francisco. He spent 10 years as sales manager at Capital Cities National Sales Office in Los Angeles, leaving in 1996 to work at KNBC as VP of Sales. He has also worked as GM of WCMH in Columbus.
