KTIV‘s 10 p.m. newscast nearly didn’t make it on the air Tuesday night, after a power outage hit the NBC-affiliate’s Sioux City neighborhood.
Early in the evening, a piece of equipment failed at the electrical substation across the street from KTIV, leaving thousands of households in the area without power. Technicians were able to fix the problem, but only within an hour of KTIV’s 10 p.m. newscast.
After some scrambling, the station was able to get everything up and running again, just ten minutes before the newscast.

Not surprisingly, the night’s top story was the power outage.
