KNXV Bakes Cookies While Phoenix Swelters

By Kevin Eck

cookies knxvKNXV chief meteorologist Amber Sullins has forecast a high of 114 for the airport, which would make it the hottest day of the year there.

Maybe we’re posting this because we’re hungry, but the Phoenix ABC affiliate is trying a sweeter, hopefully yummier take on the old hot weather gag of frying an egg to show what hot looks like.

Someone at the station put some cookie dough on a sheet and placed it in direct sunlight on the station’s patio. They want to see how long it takes for the cookies to bake. The baking started at 10:45 a.m. Phoenix time. You can even watch it happen live. Click here to watch on webcam.

KNXV promises to show off the cookies during tonight’s newscast. Maybe we’ll check in later to see how they taste. Regardless, take Ron Burgundy’s advice and don’t chase them down with milk. It’s a bad choice on a hot day.
