KNBC Leads Los Angeles Emmys With 13 Awards

KNBC was the big winner at Saturday evening’s annual Los Angeles Emmy awards, bringing home 13 Emmys. KTLA was next with six, while KABC and KCBS each won four.

KNBC, the NBC O&O in LA, swept the Regularly Scheduled Daily Newscast categories, winning for all three timeslots: morning, daytime and evening. KNBC was also recognized for Outstanding News Feature Reporting, which was awarded to reporter Bruce Hensel, and Outstanding News Writer, which was awarded to Mary Harris.

KTLA was recognized for excellence in the Live Coverage of an Unscheduled News Event category, bringing home an Emmy for their weather coverage. The CW-affiliate’s news director, Bryan Hileman, was also awarded Outstanding News Director.

CBS O&O KCBS won the Live Special Events and the Investigative Reporting categories. ABC O&O KABC took home prizes for Serious News Story and for Outstanding Hard News Reporting, which was awarded to reporter David Ono.
