Hearst Names GM of Greenville Station

John L. Humphries has been named president and GM of WYFF in Greenville, South Carolina.

This is a return to the station for Humphries, who comes from Hearst’s Lancaster, Pa. station WGAL where’s been GM since 2012. Before moving to WGAL, Humphries was director of Sales at WYFF.

Humphries starts July 1, replacing John Soapes, who was named gm of WESH-WKCF in Orlando, Fla.

“WYFF and WGAL are two iconic community leaders that are also among the best NBC affiliates in the country,” said Jordan Wertlieb, Hearst Television’s President. “John’s exemplary leadership of WGAL, coupled with his past experience in the Upstate of South Carolina, will make this a seamless transition for the outstanding team at WYFF 4.”

Humphries was gsm at WBTV in Charlotte, N.C. before joining Hearst in 2006. He was gsm of WSPA in Greenville before that. He started his career at WSOC in Charlotte as a production specialist before working as a sports reporter and anchor and then moving into sales.
