By Andrew Gauthier

George Matz, who has led the newsroom of WMTW in Portland, ME for the past six years, is set to join Kansas City duopoly KMBCKCWE as assistant news director.

“I’ve worked with George over the years and I’m very excited to have someone with his experience be part of this management team,” said Sherrie Brown, KMBC’s news director, in making the announcement.

The move represents another shift within the Hearst organization for Matz, who has been a part of the broadcasting group for over twelve years. Before joining WMTW, Matz served as assistant news director and operations manager for Milwaukee’s WISN.
