Former WGGB Anchor Paul Mueller Resurfaces in Tampa with Bay News 9

Paul Mueller, who has been battling alcoholism since abruptly resigning from WGGB last April, has gotten another chance.

On Monday, Mueller started a job as a reporter for Bay News 9, the local cable news station in Tampa.

“God has opened a door and I am thoroughly and humbly grateful,” Mueller wrote in a recent post on his Facebook page.

The new job comes just days after Mueller celebrated one year of sobriety.

Last April, Mueller was working as a morning anchor at WGGB in Springfield, MA when someone posted a video to YouTube of him slurring his words while MC-ing a fundraising gala in honor of a young boy who committed suicide after being bullied at school.

Mueller resigned after the video began circulating online.

While the incident ended his job at WGGB it also marked the beginning of a new, sober chapter in his life. One that now includes a fresh start in Tampa.
