The National Capital Chesapeake Bay chapter of NATAS awarded their Emmys over the weekend, honoring excellence in news reporting in Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.
Baltimore’s WBFF was the big winner of the night, taking home 15 Emmys. Kathleen Cairns was named the area’s best live reporter, and the Fox affiliate also took home two Emmys for best general assignment reporting.
WTTG followed closely behind with 13 Emmys. The Fox Washington DC O&O was honored for best morning newscast. WTTG anchor Steve Chenevey was named Washington’s best news anchor.
WRC, the Washington DC NBC O&O, took home six Emmys — including awards for best continuing coverage, for weather reporting on last winter’s “Snowpocalypse,” and best team coverage for the Discovery Channel hostage situation.
