WBBM Announces Winner of ‘Traffic Tryouts’

WBBM has announced the winner of “Traffic Tryouts,” the CBS O&O’s “American Idol”-style search for a new morning traffic reporter.

In a ceremony held during the morning newscast on Wednesday, WBBM introduced Derrick Young, a local school teacher who specializes in teaching character education, as the newest member of its morning team (video above).

“He has a certain vibe,” one of Young’s students commented during the “Traffic Tryouts” contest. “Like when he walks into a room, you can feel it. You can feel his presence.”
