Charlotte Reporter’s Unconfirmed Tweet About Yankee Testing Positive Gets Negative Reaction

By Kevin Eck

Dan Tordjman, a reporter for WSOC, the ABC affiliate in Charlotte, NC, discovered firsthand the power of Twitter.

Choosing two hot button topics, performance enhancing drugs and the New York Yankees, Tordjman tweeted that Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano had tested positive for performance enhancing drugs or PEDs.

ESPN’s Peter Gammons, in a Comcast Sportsnet New England broadcast of WBZ-FM (98.5 The Sports Hub) Felger & Mazz show, said the rumors are not new. But he hasn’t reported them because they remain unconfirmed:

“I heard something . . . about three weeks ago.  And, like a lot of things, I’ve . . . never gotten any confirmation.”

The tweets set off an avalanche of sportswriters filling column space with their outrage over the tweet.  Some pointed their outrage squarely at Tordjman like  Ken Davidoff from the New York Post,

While others questioned the use of Twitter in journalism.

TVSpy reached out to Tordjman for comment, but we have not heard back.  We will update when we do.
