Buffalo Anchor Legend Battling ALS

By Kevin Eck

Legendary former WKBW anchor Irv Weinstein has been diagnosed with ALS.

Weinstein left the Buffalo ABC affiliate more than 10 years ago, and now lives in California. ALS, which is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, attacks nerve cells and muscles.

The 86-year-old Weinstein anchored for more than 34 years and started every newscast by saying, “topping tonight’s Eyewitness News.”
