Arbitrator in Debbie Denmon’s Lawsuit Against WFAA Rules in Favor of Station

An arbitrator in a discrimination lawsuit WFAA anchor-reporter Debbie Denmon filed against the station has ruled in favor of WFAA, according to Uncle Barky’s Bytes.

Denmon filed a discrimination lawsuit against the Dallas ABC-affiliate in September, after an anchor position she applied for was given to WFAA reporter Shelly Slater. Denmon alleges the station passed over her for the promotion due to her weight and her race.

“We made legitimate business decisions based on performance,” station president and general manager Michael Devlin told Uncle Barky’s Bytes. “And at the end of the day, the arbitrator confirmed that there was nothing wrong with our doing so. We have always stood by our decision, and we are glad we fought this to the end and obtained complete vindication of any wrongdoing.”

Denmon, an 11-year employee at WFAA, did not immediately respond to a request from TVSpy seeking comment.
