10 Years Later, WNYW’s Greg Kelly Reflects on His Time Embedded in Iraq

By Merrill Knox

On the 10-year anniversary of the U.S. ground offensive in Iraq, “Good Day New York” co-host Greg Kelly reflected on his time as an embedded reporter during the war (video above).

Kelly — who was the first broadcast journalist to enter Baghdad with coalition forces — covered the war for Fox News Channel and sustained minor injuries when a mortar exploded near where he was standing.

“This was a wild, wild time. I never thought we would see what we actually got to see. If they were taking reporters in with them, there was no way were going to face real danger,” Kelly said on “Good Day” Tuesday. “And sure enough, it was like everything you would imagine war or an invasion to be. It was.”
