Will He Run? Depends on Whom You Ask

Bob Woodruff‘s interview with South Dakota Sen. Tim Johnson, the first by a journalist since the Senator’s brain hemorrhage in December and running tonight on Nightline, is summarized in a prominent write-up on ABCNews.com. Now, part of that online piece is a source of dispute by the Senator’s office, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader is reporting.

The ABCNews.com summary states that the Senator will run for re-election in 2008, and quotes Johnson as saying, “I expect to run and to win.” A definite decision to run, though, has not yet been made, the Senator’s spokesperson tells the newspaper. “Johnson’s spokeswoman, Julianne Fisher, said today the claim that Johnson is running is exaggerated and unfair…

“Fisher says the senator told ABC the same thing his staff has been saying for weeks, which is that he would like to but no decision has been made.”
