When Co-Hosts Can’t Agree on The Lead

By Jordan Chariton

The LeadA difference of opinion on which story to lead with this morning on “Morning Joe,” as co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski bickered over the rundown.

“Joe, would you like to tease the big headline today?” Mika asked. “Do you know what tease means? It means ‘coming up we’re going to talk about dot dot dot,’ and then you stop, and then I do the lead story.”

“I personally think we should be leading with this…but I defer to you today,” Scarborough said, suggesting changes to the Affordable Care Act was the top story.

Brzezinski told her co-host they wouldn’t lead with ACA coverage because “you guys will go on forever.” Joe then asked if the ACA changes made the cut as the second top story, drawing a scolding response: “It is our second top story, but you have to let me do the first top story,” Mika responded.

The story Scarborough didn’t think merited leading off with: new subpoenas in the New Jersey bridge scandal, and new investigations into whether Governor Chris Christie flew over the dangerously backed up GW bridge on September 11, 2013.
