‘We Can’t Trash Fox…I Work There’

Mickey Kaus, a longtime contributor at the conservative website The Daily Caller, has quit, saying a post he wrote critical of Fox News was pulled by editor Tucker Carlson. “It’s pretty simple,” Kaus told Politico, “I wrote a piece attacking Fox…I posted it at 6:30 in the morning. When I got up, Tucker had taken it down. He said, ‘We can’t trash Fox on the site. I work there.'”

Carlson is a longtime Fox News contributor and co-host of “Fox & Friends Weekend.” Carlson told Politico he was sorry to see Kaus leave The Daily Caller, but did not directly respond to Kaus’ suggestion that he pulled a story to protect his relationship with Fox News:

“It’s a larger problem on the right: Everybody is scared of Fox,” he said. “Fox is their route to a high-profile public image and in some cases stardom. Just to be on a Fox show is a big deal. And I think that’s a problem on the right, Fox’s monopoly on star-making power.”
