The Top 5 Ads Of the Campaign Season So Far

By Chris Ariens

As the GOP candidates move on to Kansas, Alabama, Hawaii, also Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands (their caucuses are this Saturday) Kantar media has taken a look at the the most-aired ads of the 2012 race so far.

Interestingly, only two of the five are GOP primary ads — both by pro-Romney sponsors. Two are pro-Obama ads — by the Obama campaign and the Democratic National Committee. Here they are:

5. At 4,387 airings, “14 Months,” is sponsored by the DNC and it promotes Pres. Obama’s jobs plan, using footage from Obama’s just-delivered address to Congress in September 2011.

4. At 4,650 airings (and still going), “Values,” is sponsored by pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future. The ad criticizes former Sen. Rick Santorum for votes he cast while in office.

3. At 5,006 airings (and still going), “Moral Responsibility,” a positive spot sponsored by former Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign and narrated by Romney.

2. At 5,057 airings, “Shovel Ready,” is sponsored by Crossroads GPS. It’s the oldest of the five, having first hit the air in June 2011. Watch:

And #1…

1. At 6,190 airings, “Unprecedented,” sponsored by the Obama campaign. The ad, which went on the air in January, sought to counter attacks on Pres. Obama by alleged “secretive oil billionaires” over Solyndra, and also promote Obama’s record on ethics and jobs.
