The Nightly News — Fast Food and the Friendly Skies

By SteveK

Over the course of this long weekend, we stumbled across some interesting discoveries around the blogosphere, proving that no matter where you are, whether it’s 35,000 feet in the air or in your local Hardee’s, the NBC Nightly News is there with you.

Soup Cans found an interesting piece of reading in between the SkyMall and the emergency evacuation pamphlet — an article by NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams in United’s Hemispheres magazine. Here’s a portion (the entire article is available online):

It’s a huge privilege to have my job, especially coming from my background. I still regard myself as a college dropout, a former fireman…who loves journalism. It all goes back to a notion of romance, just like flying. I get paid to write the first draft of history, and I watch it unfold before my very eyes.

On another note, we stumbled across this blog post regarding a recent trip to Hardee’s: “I ordered a cheeseburger and a cup of water. Later, at home, I looked at the cup for some reason and found the following review blurb: ‘Now Hardee’s has thrown down the burger gauntlet.’ — NBC Nightly News.”

After a quick exhaustive Google search, it turns out the “review” came from a 2004 report by Kevin Tibbles regarding the 107-grams-of-fat Monster Thickburger — a report that aired on the NBC Nightly News.

Click continued to see the original report, with the line Hardee’s seems to have taken a liking to…
