The Guy Who Brought You CNN Holograms, is Going to Current TV

By Chris Ariens

Current TV President, David Bohrman has named Jason Odell as Executive Vice President of Technology for the network. Odell, who has worked for CNN and NBC (as has Bohrman) will oversee IT, web engineering and broadcast engineering.

Odell was behind CNN’s use of augmented reality, immersive graphics and invented — yes invented — the hologram technology CNN used (see Jessica Yellin above in CNN’s studio, but not really) in its 2008 election coverage.

“Jason is perhaps the singular best example of the perfect fusion of broadcast technology, web technology, and information technology,” said Bohrman in a release. “He is creative, innovative, and smart.”
