Re: CNNMoney Editorial and Video Announcements

On the recommendations of managing editor Lex Haris and senior video producer Alex Nelson, I am pleased to announce the following promotions:

Charles Riley to Associate Editor – International. In this new role, Charles will serve as Mark Thompson’s deputy for our international coverage. In just 6 months since Charles landed in Hong Kong, he has shown exceptional leadership: forging strong relationships with our newsgathering colleagues in the bureau there, showing excellent news judgment, and churning out an impressive volume of stories. His work there is just beginning.

David Goldman to Associate Editor – Tech. In addition to his reporting chops, Dave has proven a nimble thinker, able to synthesize big news events and stay on top of all tech trends. He has consistently stepped up, most notably now that Stacy is temporarily running Economy. Ultimately, Stacy and the tech team needs a strong No. 2 and Dave is the right person for the job.

Laurie Segall to CNNMoney Tech Correspondent. Laurie’s carved out a new CNNMoney role, reporting on- and off-camera, online and on-air, and producing stories for all platforms. Her deep sourcing in the tech community has made her a distinctive storyteller and an invaluable resource for our ever-burgeoning tech coverage.

Jordan Malter to Video Producer. Constantly coming up with ideas, Jordan has shown a strong ability to track down real people and a knack to get them to tell often difficult stories on camera. With videos ranging from North Dakota’s oil boom, to Herbalife distributers in Queens, to a 1,500 mile pre-election road trip, Jordan has shown he can cover our full range of storytelling from economics to small business, and work closely with our other reporters to make their stories pop on web and TV screens.

Please join me in congratulating Charles, David, Laurie and Jordan.
