Sunday Show Group Think

By Chris Ariens

Jay Rosen, the NYU journalism professor and keeper of the Press Think blog, noticed some group think going on on the Sunday shows.

First. Pres. Obama’s Chief of Staff Jack Lew was on all the shows yesterday, while Rick Santorum was on three of them: “Meet the Press,” “This Week,” and “State of the Union.”

Rosen watched the Santorum interviews and found some similarities.

Two of the shows, “Meet the Press” and “This Week” asked about the same passage in Santorum’s book “It Takes a Family,” while two shows, “This Week” and “State of the Union,” played the same clip from a 2006 Rick Santorum for Senate ad, with essentially the same follow-up.

Kind of makes it easy for the candidate when you get the same questions from different reporters.
