Neil Best of Newsday is reporting that the overnight numbers for last night’s Red Sox-Yankees game on ESPN were the highest for Sunday Night Baseball this season, with 3.6 percent of homes in major markets tuning in. Boston led the way with 17 percent, while New York posted 8.6 percent.

Boston beat New York 3-2 in 10 innings on Sunday to move one game ahead of New York in the standings. Yankees closer Mariano Rivera blew the save in the 9th inning, and Sox right fielder Josh Reddick won it in the 10th on a walk off single off Phil Hughes that scored Darnell McDonald.
