Senator Marco Rubio, Jorge Ramos
Last October we noted that America’s top Spanish-language TV network, Univision, and U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) were at odds over a story the network was threatening to run about Rubio’s brother-in-law.
The Miami Herald ended up investigating the incident, and as a result Rubio stopped talking to Univision, and the GOP Presidential candidates said that they would boycott Univision’s GOP primary debate which had been scheduled ahead of the January 31 primary. The debate never happened, though Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum all participated in a “candidate’s forum” for the network.
Now it appears that Univision and Rubio are breaking bread. According to BuzzFeed, Rubio was spotted walking around the U.S. Capitol with Jorge Ramos, Univision’s star news anchor. Apparently Rubio is promoting his new book American Son which comes out on Tuesday (in both English and Spanish). The interview is most likely for “Al Punto,” Univision’s Sunday public affairs show or for the network’s nightly newscast which Ramos anchors.
