Reporting the Breaking News, Without A Camera

By SteveK

A CNN spokesperson tells TVNewser that CNN’s John King was out in the field and couldn’t get in front of a camera when he began to learn that Mitt Romney would be suspending his campaign. Fox News was the first network to report the Romney move at 12:07pmET, based on a Time.com report (which was written by Mark Halperin, who was on FNC shortly after).

At 12:13pmET, Dana Bash was on the air at the time, and reported King’s findings, which were based on three GOP sources. Less than a minute later, Bash and King (who…know each other well) spoke over the phone live on the air regarding what King had found about Romney’s decision.
